I decided to try a Rothko-inspired painting on the cover of my latest journal. It looks better in person, and I look forward to doing more abstract paintings, with the goal of creating some to hang on my walls. Just the thought of attempting it brings up an inner critic. Creating art is so emotionally painful! I keep hoping the more I do it, the less it will hurt. The problem is, I don't do it because it hurts, and then I never get to the point where it hurts less. After finishing this cover on my journal, I need to write inside in order to sort out the discomfort of creating. It feels like a knife in my gut.
